About Remote EMDR
Remote EMDR is a free, browser-based bilateral stimulation tool for EMDR therapists who work online. The therapist controls the session; the client opens a link and sees only the stimulus, full-screen. Nothing needs to be installed on either side.
Who is behind Remote EMDR
Remote EMDR is made by DRP Consulting (registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, KVK 85650595), the company behind ExpatPsychologie.nl. ExpatPsychologie is a psychology practice whose psychologists are trained EMDR therapists registered with the Dutch Institute of Psychologists (NIP). They work with clients in English and Polish, online and in person in Amersfoort (Utrecht).
The tool is built around what a therapist needs during a real session: a stimulus the client can follow comfortably, controls that stay out of the way, and nothing for the client to set up.
What the tool does
- Visual bilateral stimulation. A ball moving left–right, up–down, in a figure 8 or in a random pattern, with adjustable speed, size and colour.
- Bilateral sound. Eight sounds, such as a soft tone, a tap or a chime, alternating between the left and right ear. You choose whether the sound plays only for the client or on your screen as well.
- Backgrounds. Calm scenes, trigger scenes such as a hospital room or a busy road, or, for logged-in therapists, your own image. Uploaded images are kept only in server memory and deleted when you close the tab.
- One shared screen. The therapist sees exactly what the client sees. There is no separate preview that can fall out of sync.
- Optional free account. Patient dossiers with notes, a session history per patient, and no ads.
Who it is for
Remote EMDR is built for trained EMDR therapists. It provides the bilateral stimulation; it does not replace EMDR training, supervision or clinical judgement. If you are not a therapist, please read Can you do EMDR on yourself? before using any bilateral stimulation tool on your own.
How Remote EMDR stays free
The tool is free to use. Without an account, a short ad may play on the therapist's screen before a session starts. Ads never appear during bilateral stimulation and never on the client's screen. With a free account there are no ads at all.
Privacy
You can run sessions without an account and without giving us any personal data. Sessions contain no names, and their settings are deleted from the server within 24 hours. The privacy policy explains exactly what we store and why.
